About Us - Clinical Staff Qualifications
What are the qualifications of the AACCS staff?
Our clinical staff consists of Clinical Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Marriage Family Therapists (MFT), Associates, Interns, and Trainees. While the specific training of our staff varies with whether they are Psychologists, LCSWs, or MFTs, all of our clinical staff have graduate training in their specialty area. Our clinical staff have all signed our statement of faith and are committed to the highest standards of professional and ethical practices.
Our Clinical Psychologists have completed four or more years of graduate studies culminating in the doctoral degree, as well as both pre- and post-doctoral clinical training experience. Psychologists must have passed a licensing exam consisting of a written examination, and are required to complete a minimum number of continuing education hours to maintain their license.
Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) have completed a minimum of two years of graduate training to receive the Master of Social Work degree, and are required to complete a minimum number of pre- and post-graduate clinical training hours. LCSW's must have passed a licensing exam consisting of both a written and oral examination and are required to complete a minimum number of continuing education hours to maintain their license.
Marriage Family Therapists (MFT) must have completed a minimum of two years of graduate studies culminating in the Master's degree, as well as a minimum number of pre- and post-graduate clinical training hours. MFT's must have passed a licensing exam consisting of both a written and oral examination, and are required to complete a minimum number of continuing education hours to maintain their license. MFTs may also be known as Marriage, Family, and Child Counselors (MFCC).
Associates are post-graduate MSW therapists who are completing their hours prior to taking the licensure exam. They are registered with the Board of Behavioral Science Examiners (California), and have had a minimum of a year of clinical experience prior to joining the staff of AACCS. They are supervised by an AACCS licensed therapist.
Interns are either post-graduate MFT or MSW therapists who are completing their hours prior to taking the licensure exam. They are registered with the Board of Behavioral Science Examiners (California), and have had a minimum of one year of clinical experience prior to joining the staff of AACCS. They are supervised by an AACCS licensed therapist.
Trainees are MFT students who are completing their graduate studies and accumulating clinical training experience prior to graduation. All of our trainees are closely supervised by a licensed therapist, and are required to simultaneously be in clinical training at a site approved by their graduate training program.
